Building Foundations. Shaping Futures.

About us

Valley Youth House is the catalyst for youth to achieve their desired future through genuine relationships that support families, ensure safe places, and build community connections. We began in 1973 as a single shelter in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley. Valley Youth House was open day and night, ensuring that vulnerable, abused and homeless young people in the community had access to shelter and counseling. Even then, we represented more than just a roof and beds; we were an organization committed to building a solid foundation for every individual who came through our doors. That same dedication still drives us today, as we have grown from that first house in the Valley to over 250 residential sites throughout Pennsylvania. Though our reach and programming has vastly expanded, our mission remains the same. We educate, empower and strengthen the lives of children, youth and families, and build skills that foster growth and independence. For over forty-five years, we have been proud to be there for two generations. We stand ready to be there for the next generation as well. Our doors remain open – we just have more of them now.

Last week, we had the honor of hosting The Valley Youth House for their first in-person leadership team meeting in two years. As a 50-year-old not-for-profit organization, they play a crucial role in serving over 12,000 at-risk youth annually across 14 counties, including Montgomery County, PA. Valley Youth House operates 300 residential facilities, providing shelter to hundreds of youths and families every night. We are happy to continue our support. We're kicking off our Volunteer Impact Day series with a big shout-out to our incredible volunteers from Morgan Stanley and B. Braun Medical Inc. (US)! From discarding trash to weeding and sprucing up the garden, every effort was made to make this space inviting to all. 🍃🌸 Thank you to everyone who dedicated their time and energy. At Valley Youth House, we love seeing the positive impact our Youth Education Program has on young learners in Lehigh County. Erin, one of our amazing education specialists, received a touching note from a 3rd grader after her weekly Second Step lesson: "Miss Erin, this is for you. Thank you for being our teacher. I love learning about Second Step!" It's moments like these that show the incredible bond formed in our program, which focuses on handling strong emotions, empathy, problem-solving, and making good decisions. We're so proud of Erin and grateful for the trust these students place in her. Thank you for your dedication, Erin! Your work is making a difference! 🌟 #ValleyYouthHouse #YouthEducationProgram #SecondStep #LehighValley

🧡 Meet Bella! With a heart full of passion and a drive to make a difference, Bella has embarked on a journey to bring the magic of books to the youth at Valley Youth House. "Hey there! I’m Bella Salampessy, originally from Ambon, Maluku, but raised in Jayapura, Papua, Indonesia. Currently, I’m diving into the world of early childhood education as an international student with the Community College Initiative Program Scholarship at Northampton Community College. My heart beats with a love for community and a passion for making a difference. That’s why I’ve embarked on a book donation project, driven by the belief that every child deserves access to the magic of books. Crafting colorful flyers and rallying support from my dorm mates and church friends, we’re on a mission to brighten the lives of children at Valley Youth House. I believe and pray that this action can be a meaningful step to help all of the children at Valley Youth House. As I dream of contributing to communities both here and back in Jayapura, Indonesia, I hope to spread the joy of literacy far and wide. I believe one small step can make a big change." A huge thank you to Bella and her colleagues from college and church, for your generous donation and for spreading the joy of reading. 📖 We are so lucky to know changemakers like you! #ValleyYouthHouse #BookDonation #CommunitySupport #YouthEmpowerment #Literacy #Northampton

Valley Youth House is proud to support the recent youth conference hosted by the Lehigh Valley DUI/Highway Safety Task Force at Lehigh Valley Health Network—Mack Boulevard. This event brought together over 150 students from schools across the Lehigh Valley, engaging them in interactive activities designed to promote safe decisions. ThinkFast Interactive turned safety education into a fun and dynamic game show, keeping students engaged and actively participating. This creative approach emphasizes the importance of making positive choices and avoiding destructive behaviors like drunk driving and underage drinking. The event also highlighted the inspiring efforts of the Emmaus High School's Kid to Kid Program. As peer mentors, these students are leading by example, guiding their peers toward healthier paths and safer decisions. As Co-Chairman Brian Downs mentioned, the goal is to empower these young leaders to spread the safety message throughout their schools and communities. Every effort counts, as even one tragedy is too many. We commend all the students, advisors, and organizations involved in making this conference a success. Together, let's continue to support and encourage our youth to make safe and positive choices! #ValleyYouthHouse #LehighValley #DUI #SafetyFirst #YouthLeadership #ThinkFast
