Courage to Care

In 2015, my youngest son experienced an unfortunate bullying incident in middle school. As a result, the blueprint for Courage to Care was established that year. Prior to my company, I worked for CookRoss for 5 years. It wasn’t until June 2020 that Courage to Care officially launched. While the C2C launch was a momentous feat, it occurred one month after my father lost his life to Covid complications. So in short, this path has truly been a journey. Truthfully, my ultimate goal is to share my JEDI, belonging, and path to human connection with everyone. That is what this next project is all about. I met with my publishing coach on May 10th, and I’m proud to announce that…my book is on its way.

Two amazing books, written by two amazing humans. Margaret Larkins-Pettigrew, MD, MEd, MPPM, FACOG and Aida Rodriguez get both books. The thread lines motherhood, power, abuse, agency, body, self worth, love, family, disfunction, colorism, tribe, joy, belonging, and the crown!

So I believe it was 2014 when I 1st met Rosalyn Taylor O'Neale MSSW. I was working at a utility company in PA and she presented on Bias and a few other things. I was asked to help her get set up in the room. I carried her bag, LOL. Ever since that day she has not been able to shake me. RTO is a trusted friend, advisor, mentor and big sister. Just sending love and gratitude for allowing me to carry your bag. The attached picture is RTO, Christopher "CJ" Gross (he/him/his) and I in Cleveland a few years ago.

02/09/2024 My Mother (Dorothy Bailey) was officially recognized as a Pearl within Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority – that means 65 years of service. She entered the Sorority while attending college at NCCC - NORTH CAROLINA CENTRAL UNIVERSITY – Big Stuff – And we had family in the house! Aubri McKoy, M.S.

1/24/2024 was a good day and fitting in so many ways. Facilitated an in-person session in VA with Rosalyn Taylor O'Neale MSSW . Then a virtual session facilitated with Howard Ross (he/him/his) . Got on the road to head home and stopped in to see my mother. Note this is all occurring pre-Ivan 21st Birthday. Those that understand why I do the work I do understand the meaning making my sons have on the work and our collective humanity. 1/24 a day with my friends, mentors and trusted advisors. It was a good day!

Empty Seats Grief, Love, The Bond The holiday season brings much joy and happiness. It can also bring deep emotion connected to empty seats. Check on folks, be with folks, don’t be afraid to talk. No need to run from the wave of emotions. I’m grateful for my connection with my father. I miss him much and am grateful for the bond. And we have new seats, that’s life. Be Human with other Humans.
