Our Tampa ecologists have been busy (and waking up early!) conducting bird surveys! The team is monitoring for nest productivity and fledging of the crested caracara and surveying for the Southeastern American kestrels and any cavities. The crested caracara and Southeastern American kestrel are protected by the U.S. Migratory Bird Treaty Act. The crested caracara is also protected as a Threatened species by the Federal Endangered Species Act and as a Federally designated Threatened species by Florida's Endangered and Threatened Species Rule. The Southeastern American kestrel is protected as a State-designated Threatened species by Florida's Endangered and Threatened Species Rule. Last Friday, Delmarva811 celebrated its 2023 Locator Achievement Award Ceremony in Delaware, which recognized utility locators who go above and beyond in the name of damage prevention. During the evening, 36 utility locators throughout the industry were honored, 12 of which were from #Kleinfelder/Century Engineering, A Kleinfelder Company. This is a very prestigious award demonstrating focus and a commitment to excellence, with criteria including zero safety violations, zero at-fault damages, a status of over 1,500 tickets, and a primary role as utility locator for the entire calendar year.
